Theodora L. Gongaware, M.D.

T Gongaware grew up in Savannah attending Christ Church with her 4 brothers and sisters.  She received her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her training in Internal Medicine from Columbia Presbyterian in New York.  It was there that she met Robert David Gongaware a resident in surgery. They married at Christ Church in 1969 and returned to Savannah in 1972.   After Bob’s death in 1999, T began her career as a volunteer physician.  She now volunteers at Hospice Savannah where she also serves on its board of directors.  She is a former board member of the Bethesda Home for Boys.  An avid gardener, T serves as a member of the Trustees’ Garden Club and as a national chairman of the Garden Club of America.  T has three grown children and two grandchildren.
