T. Mills Fleming, Senior Warden

Mills Fleming is a partner with the law firm Hunter, Maclean, Exley & Dunn, P.C.  He received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Florida. Mills married Dr. Marianne M. Fleming in 1990 at Christ Church.  They have one son, Alexander, who serves as a crucifer at Christ Church.  Mills is lifelong Episcopalian and is the son of an Episcopal priest.  Read More

Mimi S. Jones, Junior Warden

Mimi S. Jones is a native of Savannah and attended Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia, the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado.  She also received a Education for Ministry certificate from The University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee.  She is married to Jack M. Jones, Jr., and they have three grown children and nine grandchildren.  Mimi has been a member of Christ Church since 1960 and has served on the altar guild, the vestry, the ECW board, and the Emmaus House committee.  Read More

Montie S. Acuff, Clerk of the Vestry

Montie Acuff, a lifelong Episcopalian, was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and is an alumnus of Agnes Scott College.  Montie moved to Savannah in 1978.  She is married to D. Stephen Acuff, D.D.S., with whom she has two grown sons.  Together, the Acuffs started Project Smile, a dental mission in Belize which has treated over 8,500 children since 1992.  Montie is a past board member for the Bethesda Home for Boys and currently serves as the board president of Interfaith Hospitality Network.

Jane F. Espy, Treasurer

Jane Espy is the chairman of the Episcopal Youth & Children’s Services, as well as the registrar for The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Georgia.  She previously served as a board member for the Historic Savannah Foundation, the Georgia Historical Society, and the Savannah Science Museum. She graduated from the University of Richmond and is married to Carl Espy, III. She is the mother of two children, three stepchildren, and five grandchildren.

William M. Brockenbrough

Will Brockenbrough is originally from Norfolk, Virginia, where he was baptized and confirmed at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.  He obtained his masters degree from the University of Georgia and completed his undergraduate studies at Virginia Polytechnic and State University.  Will is a Senior Architectural Historian with Brockington and Associates, Inc., a cultural resource consulting firm.  He and his wife, Sarah, who is a life-long member of Christ Church, were married there in 2003. In addition serving on the vestry, Will is the webmaster for Christ Church’s website.

Rebecca A. Cheatham

Becky Cheatham was born and raised in Sylvester, Georgia, the Peanut Capital of the World. She was reared in a small country church that her family helped establish over 150 years ago.  She joined Christ Church in 1977.  Becky has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in speech pathology from the University of Georgia and currently serves as the director of the St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System Foundation.  Read More

M. M. Goldsmith, III, M.D.

Chip Goldsmith is a native of Savannah and a lifelong member of Christ Church.  Chip completed his undergraduate, medical school, and residency training at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He returned to Savannah in 1989 after a two year academic appointment at Johns Hopkins Medical Institution. Theodora L. Gongaware, M.D.

T Gongaware grew up in Savannah attending Christ Church with her 4 brothers and sisters.  She received her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her training in Internal Medicine from Columbia Presbyterian in New York.  It was there that she met Robert David Gongaware a resident in surgery. They married at Christ Church in 1969 and returned to Savannah in 1972.   After Bob’s death in 1999, T began her career as a volunteer physician.  Read More

Joseph R. Gussler, M.D.

Joe Gussler is an ophthalmologist and serves as president of the Georgia Eye Institute.  He is originally from Ashland, Kentucky.  Joe is an alumnus of Vanderbilt University, University of Louisville, University of Kentucky, and University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.  He is married to Catherine M. Gussler, a lifelong Episcopalian and member of Christ Church.  Joe and Catherine were married at Christ Church in 1985 and have two grown children, Walker and Caroline.  Joe has also been active in medical missions to India and El Salvador and has hosted doctors from Bangladesh.

Frank S. Macgill

Frank Macgill is the managing partner for Hunter, Maclean, Exley & Dunn, P.C. and specializes in corporate, tax and estate planning.  He received his law degree from the University of Georgia and his masters in tax law from New York University.  He and his wife Mary-Margaret have two daughters: Alston, 12, and Isabel, 9, who are acolytes for our church.

Virginia T. Maxwell

Virginia Maxwell was born in Augusta, Georgia, where she was baptized, confirmed, and married in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.  In 1954, Virginia married the Reverend George M. Maxwell, our Rector Emeritus.  That same year she also graduated from Hollins College.  She and Father Maxwell moved to Savannah in 1973, when he became Christ Church’s 39th rector.  Together, they have three grown children (two of whom are Episcopal priests and one who works in real estate) and eight grandchildren.  Read More

Ann Y. Miller

Ann Miller was born in Lowville, New York, in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains.  She graduated from the University of Rochester in 1959, with a degree in sociology/psychology with a concentration in music at the University’s Eastman School of Music. That year, she married Dr. William Miller and moved to New Haven, Connecticut, where Bill completed medical school and residency at Yale.  During that time, she was a special education teacher in public schools.   Read More

Margaret J. Miller

Margaret Miller was born in Mobile, Alabama, and moved to Savannah after marrying Jerry Miller, an architect.  Originally a Roman Catholic, Margaret began attending Christ Church in 1989.  She later joined St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on Skidaway Island, where she was formally received as an Episcopalian in 1992.  While at St. Peter’s, she served as senior warden, flower guild chair, altar guild chair, and antiques show chair.  Read More
