The Rev. J. Sierra Wilkinson, Assistant Rector

In August 2011, Christ Church Episcopal welcomed The Rev. Julia Sierra Wilkinson as our deacon and assistant rector.

Before arriving at CCE, Rev. Wilkinson was a seminarian intern with The Crossing community, housed at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in Boston, Massachusetts; served as deacon at Christ Church, Cambridge, Massachusetts; and as a chaplain intern at Metro State Women’s Prison in Atlanta, Georgia. Rev. Wilkinson’s formation for ministry began with her involvement in the Diocese of Georgia youth programs housed at Honey Creek Camp and Conference Center.She was also formed by opportunities for involvement in the Episcopal Church including; 2003 General Convention Youth Presence and 2006 elected deputy by the Diocese of Georgia. She served as one of two youth representatives on the Nominating Committee for the Election of the Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church.

Rev. Wilkinson is a native of Savannah and a graduate of Agnes Scott College (B.A. in Religion & African Studies) and Harvard Divinity School (M.Div., President of the Student Body and recipient of the Edward Hopkins Award). During her college and seminary education, she lived and studied in Sierra Leone, South Africa, and Tanzania. She is joyful to be serving Christ Church Episcopal Savannah!
