Kenneth G. Yates, our organist and associate choirmaster, has been an important member of our Christ Church Episcopal family since early 2008.  After four years in the U.S. Navy as a Chaplain’s assistant aboard the aircraft carrier U.S. Intrepid, he graduated with a degree in Church Music from Boston University in 1973.

Ken taught music in the Boston Public Schools for almost ten years as well as served as organist and choirmaster at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brockton, Massachusetts.  He moved to Savannah in 1983 as organist and choirmaster of St. John’s Episcopal Church where he developed and presided over their music program for sixteen years.

In addition to serving Christ Church Episcopal, he is also organist and choirmaster at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in downtown Savannah, assistant organist at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church on Wilmington Island and teaches private piano and organ lessons.
