The Right Reverend Scott Anson Benhase, D.D. was elected the tenth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia on September 12, 2009 at the Diocese’s special election convention held in Dublin. The Rev. Michael S. White, Rector

In July 2008, The Rev. Michael S. White became Christ Church, Savannah’s forty-first rector. He is married to The Rev. Helen S. White, and they have two sons, Ethan and Jay.

Previously, Father White served as the priest-in-charge for Christ Church, Georgetown in Washington, D.C.; as rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Durham, North Carolina; and as rector of St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Richmond Hill, Georgia. Read More

The Rev. George M. Maxwell, Rector Emeritus

The Reverend George Motier Maxwell was born in Augusta, Georgia in 1930.  After graduating from the Virginia Military Institute and serving in the United States Air Force, he married Virginia Towill, also from Augusta.  They have three grown children (two of whom are Episcopal priests and one who is real estate developer) and eight grandchildren.

He was graduated from Virginia Theological Seminary in 1961 and ordained a priest in 1962. Read More

Timothy L. Hall, Choirmaster

Timothy Hall earned the Bachelor of Music degree in Sacred Music and Organ Performance, and the Master of Music degree (with distinction) from Westminster Choir College, Princeton, New Jersey.  At Westminster, he sang in the Westminster Symphonic Choir (under such notable conductors as Bernstein, Kubelik, Leinsdorf, Mehta, Muti and Flummerfelt), as well as Westminster Singers, a smaller ensemble focusing on chamber works and vocal jazz.  Read More
